Hi My name is Eric. I am from Dublin and have been a member of the steering committee at MAC since earlier this year.
In 2010 at age 55 I attended my GP for my annual PSA test. My GP is a stickler for annual checks on PSA. In 2009 my PSA count was 3.1 and in 2010 it had risen to 6.8 a dramatic increase. I was immediatel referred for further investigation. I had a biopsy in September 2010 and it confirmed I had cancer of the prostate which was considered aggressive. I had a radical prostatectomy in January 2011 at Tallaght hopsital in Dublin and I attend there at 3 month intervals to monitor my PSA level which was 0.04 at last visit. If I can contribute ANYTHING to help in the fight against Prostate and Testicular Cancer it would be this. ' Lads please look after your health, check yourself regularly and attend annually for PSA blood testing' .....I consider myself a survivor of cancer and although I have to cope with some of the obvious after affects of the disease I am thankful for the excellent treatment I received and the continuing support of my friends and colleagues at MAC
